j2 Successfully Acquires New Zealand-Based Business Unit of Zintel Communications

j2 Global (News - Alert) Inc recently announced the successful acquisition of the New Zealand-based business unit of Zintel Communications, specialists in business telecommunications services and providers of cloud voice services. The acquisition of the NZ unit of Zintel follows on the March 2012 acquisition of its Australian-based Communications business by j2 Global.

j2Global is one of the premier providers of outsourced, value-added messaging and communications services to individuals and businesses across the globe.

 In a release, Hemi Zucker, CEO of j2 Global, said that, "This acquisition is part of our overall effort to expand our voice services internationally and particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. We are committed to enhancing the experience of our New Zealand customers by offering them industry-leading service levels and expanded service features, as well as access to our global network reach and wide array of additional cloud services."

The acquisition deal went through after the NZAX-listed Zintel was granted NZX exemption from requirements to announce a pre-break or gain shareholder approval of the transaction. Delaware-based j2 Global acquired Zintel’s Australian business in March 2012 in a deal valued at $15.3 million.

Zintel chairman Nick Gordon, said that, “Following the sale of our Australian business to j2 earlier this year, they are the natural home for the NZ business which also manages telecommunication services. We have previously indicated the possibility of further divestment and this now leaves us with one trading subsidiary, Commit Services Ltd.”
