The Chinese Unified Communications (News - Alert) (UC) market has been experiencing tremendous growth in the past few years. In a recent press release from Frost & Sullivan, whose growth solutions serve four continents and have spanned five decades of innovation, it was reported that China is poised to outperform the Australian market by 2017.
China currently holds the third highest grossing UC market, with $116.8 million in revenue in 2010, which is steadily growing, projected to reach $255 million by 2017. With a 16.5 percent surge in 2010, Australia has captured second place in the market, but it does not seem that they will hold onto that spot as China gears up to position itself as a formidable opponent.
Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) research associate Lu Shui Shan attributes this rapid growth to a combination of increasing demand, “relatively” low pricing, and the adoption of multi-media applications like work force management and speech technology software. Shan added, “In China, global vendors streamlined their channel programs, and expanded their partnership programs in 2010. In addition, UC solutions vendors are marketing their contact centre applications bundled with other UC solutions.”
The primary markets that Chinese UC solutions center serve include banking, finance, telcos, and government, which collectively accounted for 60 percent of their 2010 sales. It is predicted that these figures will start to change as local Chinese vendors utilize their understanding of the local market to ink more contracts and as they improve research and development (R & D), and reduce their pricepoints as the retail, hospitality, utility, and e-commerce industries increasingly seek UC solutions.
The UC market is yet another way that China is positioning itself as a power player in the global marketplace. The solutions that they are providing has proven them to be a formidable competitor to Australia’s UC market and with the growth projected to double in a seven year time span, they will, undoubtedly, be vying for the top spot in South Asia in no time.
