InfoTrack, a provider of in-depth, primary research on enterprise communications, stated that its new five-year forecast indicated that U.S. spending on IP telephony (IPT) and unified communications (UC) will increase by an average of 10 percent per year with the spending on Hosted IPT services to be tripled by 2016.

T3i Group explained that InfoTrack for unified communications (IUC) evaluates and forecasts the impact of UC applications and disruptive technologies on customer acquisition plans, and markets are assessed by five customer size segments within the U.S. and globally. The UC applications forecast projects shipments and spending on nine separate applications in five categories: collaboration, mobility, UC clients, messaging and contact center.

“In 2011, SMBs represented 46 percent of the U.S. installed base of IPT lines, but accounted for only 30 percent of the spending on UC applications,” said Ken Dolsky, senior program director for InfoTrack. “But over the next five years, the growth of SMB spending on UC apps will be more than twice the rate of U.S. Enterprises, which represents the mirror image of what we project happening in the Hosted IPT sector.”

T3i Group claimed its demand research is developed in consultation with clients, who help it prioritize survey topics, and its structured survey methodology delivers segmented trend analysis and demand forecasting.

The market segmentation is developed based on surveys of the enterprise and SMB members of the InfoTrack panel of IT and UC decision-makers.

Users can avail the forecast presented in two volumes. Vol. 1 runs for twenty pages and features results summary and methodology explanations, while Vol. 2 is sixty six pages and features insightful forecasts on shipments, installed base and spending by segment, presented in Excel spreadsheet format.
