Masergy has long been a proponent of cloud-based network visibility and control for large enterprises. To that end, the company has been adding new services to its portfolio to fill these needs. Its latest move to try and strengthen its position in this space is the acquisition of Broadcore (News - Alert) Communications.

Broadcore is a company that specializes in cloud communications solutions. Its acquisition by Masergy represents the latest step in that company’s forward-thinking plans. Masergy has recently added cloud-based services for managing Web applications and network services and with the acquisition of Broadcore, the company can now add a full suite of global cloud communication services to its portfolio including unified communications, SIP trunking, mobility solutions and more.

“With this acquisition, Broadcore will continue on as a provider of cloud communications, but with a network and parent company supporting our offerings and our customers,” said Monty Ferdowsi, president of Broadcore, in a statement. “Our communications platform, together with Masergy’s premier network, will give companies access to superior cloud-based networking and communications solutions.”

After the acquisition is complete, Broadcore will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Masergy, although it will continue to operate as it does today. Broadcore’s service platform will embed directly into the global MPLS network platform from Masergy, allowing for the real-time delivery of Broadcore’s suite of voice, video and mobility offerings.

“The acquisition of Broadcore is about more than acquiring a cloud communications platform,” added McFarland. “It’s about retaining a talented and experienced employee base with a proven track record and a passion for providing a superior customer experience.”

Recently in the unified communications space, Broadcore made headlines when it hosted an informative webinar series, while Masergy was in the news for utilizing VeloBit’s HyperChache solutions.
