Comverse Establishes Position in Value-Added Services (VAS) Market

July 06, 2012

Frost & Sullivan stated that its recently conducted worldwide market research revealed that Comverse has extended its reign as the number one provider in the global value-added services (VAS) market.

Frost & Sullivan reportedly evaluated the VAS vendor market share on three basic categories: voicemail, text messaging (SMSC) and multimedia messaging (MMSC) from the period ranging from 2010-2011. In these evaluations, Comverse’ lead in the voicemail market share was more than twice that of the runner-up. The company also placed itself second in SMSC and MMSC market share which provided it with an overall first-place finish.

“Comverse emerges as the reigning overall VAS market leader globally in each of the two years studied, with nearly a one-quarter total market share. This is a significant achievement in a crowded field that is in constant flux. Comverse is further distinguished as the only company to place in the top two in all three VAS segments: voice, text and multimedia messaging. In contrast, no other company was able to accomplish a top-two ranking in more than a single segment. Comverse’s ongoing broad VAS leadership is noteworthy”, said Ronald Gruia, principal analyst for Frost & Sullivan’s ICT Practice, in a press release.

Comverse explained that its next-generation voicemail is available to users with expanded functionality and new features that can help them establish increased call completion rates and improved customer loyalty. The solution’s built-in operational efficiencies can bring down expenses, and the IMS-ready, open and modular platform helps users migrate their network to fixed/mobile convergence.

The company’s SMSC platform is stated to be designed for mega-capacity and availability, fully scalable to meet future demands for SMS person-to-person (P2P) and application-to-person (A2P) services, while the MMSC is a comprehensive robust solution that includes MMS platforms, MMS service enablers and subscriber applications.
