The following are excerpts from the CXO Reports 47 page NuViews® Summary Report on Avaya (News - Alert) Aura® UC available via TMCnet’s Research Portal.

Avaya expanded its reseller and development channel coverage since the acquisition of Nortel (News - Alert) Enterprise Solutions, evolved its product line to Aura and added 60 new products in the past 18 months. Avaya Aura® is its core flagship suite of products designed to improve “Enterprise and Personal Experience Management” for more effective business communications. After extensive review of information via CXO Reports’ membership access to information from Avaya’s Analyst Relations and Consultant Relations resources and private briefings, as well as that information available to the public, this report serves to consolidate and clarify Avaya’s migration to Aura.

Avaya has successfully integrated the Nortel Enterprise Solutions product line and is leveraging the addition of data network products in the new Avaya portfolio. Data networking products play a key role in UC, including voice and video over wireless networks, by enabling its products to work on top of existing vendor products or using Avaya which provides a unique integration with the switch to eliminate bottlenecks. Avaya has also incorporated and enhanced the Agile (News - Alert) Communications Environment™ (ACE), which uses current communications and web-based standards to accelerate integration and unification of telecommunications systems and business applications. A previous CXO Report on Avaya Unified Communications was completed just prior to the acquisition of Nortel Enterprise Solutions in December of 2009. In comparison, this report shows an impressive evolution and transformation from addressing multi-media products and services within the UC domain to now offering expanded solutions related to “Enterprise and Personalized Experience Management,” including social networking, mobile living, cloud-based alternatives and virtual worlds and communities.

Additional products include recent acquisitions including Sipera and Aurix (News - Alert). Both add extra dimensions to Avaya's unified communications portfolio and strengthen research and development, while bringing new opportunities to Avaya and its partners. Sipera (News - Alert) is an obvious and significant adjunct to Avaya's IP-based systems. Of particular interest to Avaya is Sipera's borderless UC security technology which enables businesses to extend their communications network via Session-initiation Protocol (SIP) to satellite offices, mobile and home workers securely but without the need to establish a VPN first. Aurix demonstrates an interesting eye for the future. Aurix specializes in speech to text technology and data mining voice communications to improve customer service and business intelligence. The value of document search engines is widely understood. There's another dimension of data that is largely untapped which is the information exchanged through spoken interactions. Aurix's technology will help enable Avaya's customers to quickly find the interactions that can impact their ability to attain high customer satisfaction and increase revenue generation. The previous acquisition of Konftel provides its OmniSound audio-enhancing technology, which Avaya plans to incorporate across its entire product line, including the Avaya Flare Experience now available on its tablet-based unified communications solution, the Avaya Desktop Video Device (ADVD). Avaya has a respectable stable of Audio Conferencing products, from desktop to large auditorium settings.

The complete report is available, along with two additional reports on Avaya Aura Contact Center and Avaya Data Networking portfolios: TMCnet’s Research Portal.

A new CXO Report study on multi-vendor “Migration to the Collaborative Cloud” will be available via this research portal soon.
