The gospel music enthusiasts in California can now vote their favorite choirs as Verizon (News - Alert) Wireleess announces the opening of online voting line for Verizon's How Sweet the Sound Gospel Celebration. Online voting is open now through Wednesday, August 31, Verizon announced in a press release.

Gospel music fans in Southern California can participate in this premier gospel music extravaganza by reviewing and voting on video essays submitted by local choirs. Gospel enthusiasts can view each of the advancing choirs' essays and may vote for one regional finalist, Verizon clarified. The choirs are going to create their video essays will be themed on how their music ministry reach out to their local communities and how they are helping others and uplifting those in need. At the close of online voting, the results will be tallied and announced on the website.

The local choirs are going to perform in the How Sweet the Sound regional celebration at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles on October 1. Online votes will be combined with votes from the live audience at the Los Angeles concert to determine the V CAST People's Choice Award-winner. The live audience will vote for their favorite performer by texting. Their judgment will be based on the live performances on stage.

The combined results will decide the Southern California V CAST People's Choice Award-winner, who will receive a $5,000 prize at the live event, Verizon further added.

Details about Verizon's How Sweet the Sound, including schedules, online voting, judging criteria and official rules, are available online at www.HowSweetTheSound.com.

In early July, to the delight of the Gospel enthusiasts, Verizon announced that Gospel legend CeCe Winans and GRAMMY Award-winning artist, songwriter and producer, Donald Lawrence, will return in 2011 to co-host Verizon's How Sweet the Sound - the country's biggest gospel music celebration. Marvin Sapp will serve as the tour's resident judge. Joining him on the judging panel is a who's who of gospel music, including Mary Mary, Dorinda Clark Cole, Fred Hammond, Richard Smallwood, James Fortune, Byron Cage, Ricky Dillard, Shirley Caesar and more.
