Tango Networks  Abrazo Mobile Unified Communications (News - Alert) solution has been deployed at the University of Michigan’s 700+ acre campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The University of Michigan is ranked in the top 15 of world universities by The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011.

A premier supplier of Mobile Unified Communications solutions, Tango enables mobile service providers to securely extend control of their networks to the edge.

Any mobile phone, regardless of type, by coupling the mobile carriers’ functionality with the services powered by Tango Networks’ (News - Alert) Abrazo, has the potential to be a true extension of the University of Michigan’s unified voice communications network and related applications.

With this, the faculty and staff members at the U-M will be able to greatly improve connectivity and reachability among themselves.

“We are pleased to have our solution deployed in such a prestigious institution of higher learning as the University of Michigan,” said Alastair Westgarth (News - Alert), president and chief executive officer of Tango Networks, in a press release.

He continued, “This system transparently merges the existing campus wide voice network with the highly flexible mobile environment. In the future, university mobile users will have the option of using their mobile device in place of their desk phone.”

The university, with the flexible call management system, can add a single number on each employee’s mobile device, which means they can use their mobile phone for personal and professional needs.

Employers, through this are allowed to be reached during business hours wherever they may be, on or off campus, or to use their exchange voicemail to access or take a work message.

In related news, Tango Networks asserted that its Abrazo mobile unified communication solution has been tweaked to support the ShoreTel (News - Alert) Unified Communications Platform Release10.x.
