Siemens Enterprise Communications has released itsOpenScape UC Suite 2011, a unique open solution that makes multimedia collaboration more affordable, easier to use and faster to deploy for businesses of all sizes.

According to company officials, the OpenScape UC Suite encompasses a comprehensive set of collaboration, mobility, video and other tools that are capable of securely and reliably delivering better productivity besides giving significant cost savings to enterprises.

The OpenScape UC Suite includes the new OpenScape Web Collaboration, an enterprise-grade Web conferencing solution that offers multimedia collaboration for enhancing productivity, and reducing communication costs. It can be installed on one server rapidly for providing “one-click collaboration.” This allows users to move seamlessly between Web, chat and multi-party desktop video conferencing with a single mouse click.

The solution does not require client installation, offers low infrastructure commitment, and does not require server downtime for upgrades. This makes it cost-effective to deploy and manage with minimal IT resource requirements, said officials.

Siemens (News - Alert) sources added that OpenScape Web Collaboration uses technology from FastViewer GmbH & Co., which recently entered into an agreement for acquisition by Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert).

Jeff Rose, director of information systems for Orlando Utilities Commission, said that by using OpenScape Web Collaboration, it has become easy for employees to collaborate online and conduct business from any location as the company had multiple facilities in Central Florida, and employees travel often between sites for meetings.

The solution serves optimally by reducing commuting time between sites thereby enhancing productivity. This is also an environmentally friendly way to communicate and in critical situations the system automatically locates and brings employees together quickly into a productive Web conference.

In a release, Chris Hummel, chief marketing officer at Siemens Enterprise Communications, said, “Unified Communication and Collaboration (UCC) can enable businesses to dramatically improve productivity, efficiency and cost savings, but many are reluctant to move forward with the overly complex, expensive, proprietary offerings available today. OpenScape UC Suite means that rich, enterprise-grade collaboration is now practical and affordable for any business.”

OpenScape Web Collaboration ensures reliability and security that enterprises need, besides providing advanced encryption, password-protected Web sessions and scalability enabled by a cascading server architecture. Also the solution can be deployed either on premise or as a hosted solution with greater flexibility and simplified management.
