Polycom Releases Solution for IBM Lotus Sametime

Unified communications provider Polycom has released a new integrated telepresence and desktop video collaboration solution for IBM (News - Alert) Lotus Sametime.


The unified end-to-end solution will enable the users to connect and collaborate easily, and collaboration, which will help organizations improve their productivity, accelerate decision making and lower costs by reducing the need to travel.

Polycom's (News - Alert) integration with the IBM Lotus Sametime server does not cause any significant changes in the user interface, which results in minimal user training requirements. The Polycom Converged Management Application (CMA) allows IT administrators to centrally provision and manage Polycom video networks and systems within their UC network.

The solution combines the scalable, standards-based and redundant Polycom UC Intelligent Core visual communication platform, and Polycom personal and room telepresence solutions with IBM’s feature-rich Lotus Sametime platform. By integrating voice and video communications within the IBM UC environment, as well as enhancing the interaction between locations while also reducing travel costs, customers will be drive a more collaborative culture. Together, the two platforms will work as it provides a more seamless experience for end users and IT managers, as well as better investment protection. Polycom and IBM have delivered a great solution that puts the voice and video collaboration evaluation tools within the familiar Lotus Sametime applications and interface, as customers are increasingly require tools that can integrate with their unified communications environments.
