Entrada's Medical Documentation Platform Now a Healthcare Technology Option Available on Apple Mobile Devices

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Entrada, an innovator in healthcare technology and IT for clinical documentation and data exchange, has announced the general availability of a software application for Apple (News - Alert) mobile devices. The latest eDictate application expands Entrada’s automated clinical documentation process to the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, whereby providing the physicians with a powerful productivity tool which can unlock the potential of electronic medical records.

Alexander Poston, president and CIO of Entrada said, “More and more physicians now realize that automated documentation and other web-based EMR applications are critical to improving their productivity and satisfaction. As the healthcare sector evolves and smart phone software development becomes increasingly important to health IT, Entrada will continue to deliver the most advanced, most functionally rich mobile dictation services to physicians.”

Spoken medical reports can be captured through eDictate on the Apple handheld devices and they can be securely transmitted to Entrada’s web-based data center, where the recordings are converted to text by the voice recognition system. Most of the reports are generated within a few minutes.

Expert editing services are also available for further refinement of the documents. These electronic records are then uploaded to the doctor’s EMR or other digital repository.

The new application is now available at the Apple iStore and is the latest service from Entrada which assists clinics, hospitals and surgery centers in improving their clinical documentation and data management without disturbing a physician’s natural workflow. A similar application is offered by Entrada for Windows Mobile devices.

Dr. William Edwards, Jr., a veteran vascular surgeon and operating officer for Entrada, said, “There is a perfect storm brewing in the U.S. health care system. Tens of millions of new patients are entering the system at the same time as the Baby Boomers are beginning to require more medical care,” Edwards said. “Physicians recognize the benefits of modernizing their practices and the potential for IT to help deliver high quality patient care. But to meet this growing patient demand, physicians need a solution to the data-entry disadvantages of today’s EMR systems.”

Entrada provides a gateway of technology and web-based services which are designed by physicians for streamlining and enhancing electronic health records.
