CytexOne Debuts New Stratus Server Appliance

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

CytexOne, a technologies integration company, announced that they have unveiled a new Stratus server appliance through which SMBs can affordably and effortlessly add BlackBerry (News - Alert) Enterprise Server, BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express and enhanced services to their mobile workforce.

According to the company, the CytexOne Stratus Appliance is the answer for SMB's who want to add Microsoft (News - Alert) SBS or Blackberry Enterprise Server, or both, for their employees. Everything users need comes right inside the box. Users can begin activating as few as ten BlackBerry handsets, and instantly expand to as many as 10,000 without additional infrastructure costs. The Stratus appliance includes a state-of-the-art virtualized server, SBS with Exchange, BlackBerry Enterprise Server software, handset licenses and full support. And for clients who deploy this appliance there are no upfront costs, no unexpected maintenance charges, and no surprise expenses.

The company has claimed that the Stratus Appliance was designed from the beginning to be completely turn-key and it requires neither any hardware to swap nor any software to install. It is built to RIM specifications and is constantly monitored. The Stratus Appliance for BlackBerry is part of a family of products that uses CytexOne's proprietary Secure Distributed Virtualization platform which enables unprecedented access for client premise devices for remote programming, monitoring, and network maintenance and server scalability.

The CytexOne Stratus appliance comes pre-loaded with BlackBerry Enterprise Server v5.0. This new version enhances functionality and unlike other BlackBerry Enterprise server solution allows company-wide access to third party BlackBerry applications.

Dan Levine, CytexOne CEO and co-founder has said that small and mid-sized organizations need to have the most up-to-date capability and the greatest flexibility for a changing marketplace. By providing an appliance that is already configured and can be remotely managed and supported, SMB's can quickly roll out high-reliability BlackBerry Enterprise Server. It takes all the trial and error out of adding this essential mobile service, whether users are deploying 20 or 2000 smartphones.

The Stratus Appliance is based on CytexOne's proprietary platform, which can offer highly scalable BlackBerry services without purchasing and configuring hardware, so buy-in as well as ongoing costs are a fraction of traditional systems. The Stratus not only dramatically reduces hardware needs and lowers energy costs, but it also reduces downtime expenses due to CytexOne's proactive monitoring.
