Motorola Launches New MC3100 Series of Mobile Computers
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
Motorola, Inc. has launched the new MC3100 series of mobile computers. These computers provide advanced computing power, data capture options, enterprise-class motion sensing capabilities and a versatile form factor for mid-range mobile computing.
The MC3100 provides enterprise mobility customers with a single, cost-effective in-premise solution for converged voice and data communications, company officials said. It utilizes the ergonomic and rugged design of MC3000. According to Gerald McNerney, vice president of mobile computing product management at Motorola (News - Alert) Enterprise Mobility Solutions, the MC3100 mobile computer helps organizations to increase productivity, streamline operations and reduce total-cost-of-ownership. The MC3100 provides in-building mobile workers across a number of industries with an ergonomically superior device that provides access to better information to make better decisions.
The Motorola MC3100 is designed for key-based and touch-screen applications inside the enterprise. These applications include price/stock management, inventory control, returns processing, shipping and receiving, baggage tracking and asset management. The MC3100 mobile computer helps retailers, government agencies and distribution centers to streamline business processes, improve employee productivity and enhance customer service and satisfaction.
The MC3100 series of mobile computers provides a family of models for customers to mix and match to best meet user and application demands. In fact, the MC3100 offers three keypads and three distinct form factors. Each model equipped with the Marvell XScale PXA320 @ 624 MHz processor offers a choice of operating systems and advanced data capture technologies. Microsoft (News - Alert) Corporation’s Windows Mobile 6.1 provides a number of ISV applications along with an intuitive interface that reduces training time. In addition, the real-time Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Pro platform provides a familiar programming environment to support the development of rich custom applications. It is also possible for customers to choose from the Symbol SE950 1D laser scanner for the rapid and accurate capture of all 1D “symbologies.”
The MC3100 also incorporates Motorola MAX Sensor enterprise class motion sensing applications. Motorola interactive sensor technology supports a number of motion-sensing applications that enable organizations to derive increased business value. For example, organizations will be able to increase worker accountability by detecting and logging device drops and improve power management by enabling the MC3100 mobile computer to automatically revert to sleep mode when not in use or if the display is face down.
The MC3100 series preserves existing application investments by enabling seamless porting of applications from other Motorola mobile computers. It also offers comprehensive centralized management to streamline operations and reduce total-cost-of-ownership. In addition, Motorola’s Mobility Suite offers comprehensive management solutions that provide centralized control of the MC3100 and other Motorola mobile computers.
Motorola Enterprise Mobility Services recommends Service from the Start with Comprehensive Coverage for inside-outside protection for the MC3100, which significantly reduces unexpected repair expenses. In addition, the technical software support helps keep the MC3100 running at optimal efficiency. Motorola’s robust partner network provides access to Motorola validated line of business applications. This provides a reduction in application development time and costs for Motorola MC3100 customers, which in turn enables rapid deployment and improved return on investment.
