Verizon Business announced it is offering an integrated communications and networking solution to Siemens Enterprise Communications, a provider of end-to-end enterprise communications, to upgrade and streamline its European communications infrastructure.
Siemens (News - Alert) Enterprise Communications needed to streamline its communications network management while setting the stage for advanced services. Verizon’s solution now enables the company to operate more efficiently and cost effectively as it transitions to a unified communications environment, company officials said.
Verizon's (News - Alert) solution integrates Voice over IP or “VoIP” with centralized, multi-country and multisite IP Trunking to link the company's Munich headquarters with operations across 10 European countries.
The company also utilizes Verizon IP Trunking's Burstable Enterprise Shared Trunks or “BEST” feature to essentially scale VoIP network capacity on demand to support its business needs.
Company officials state that Verizon's simple VoIP infrastructure has also enabled Siemens to transition all its voice communications to its own award-winning OpenScape Unified Communications (News - Alert) Suite, which includes audio conferencing, presence and collaboration tools – as well as providing a platform on which this can be demonstrated to the company's customers.
Guenther Ernst,Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) chief information officer, said, “Migrating our European infrastructure to the Verizon Business solution has enhanced not only our internal communications capabilities, but also our ability to service our customers.”
Following the success of the European project, Siemens Enterprise Communications is also planning to continue deployment across Asia-Pacific region, Ernst added. “Essentially, Verizon Business (News - Alert) is helping us streamline our operations so we can enhance our business agility to realize our business goals.”
Earlier in June, Verizon Business announced a set of new IP capabilities that make the adoption of unified communications and collaboration simpler and more cost-effective than ever before, TMCnet reported. The new functionalities include IP Audio Conferencing, VoIP IP Enterprise Routing or “VIPER,” and Centralized multi-site designs for Verizon Hosted IP Centrex customers in Europe, company officials said.
