Mirapoint Intros Message Server 7700 to Enable In-House, Cloud-Based Messaging for Millions

By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

Mirapoint (News - Alert) Software, a provider of appliance-based solutions for secure message networks in enterprise, service provider, and education organizations, has announced  the launch of Message Server 7700, its new all-in-one mail server appliance that meets the messaging needs of medium-to-large enterprises and service providers.

Jeff Witous, CEO of Mirapoint, said that if a given enterprise operates within an industry that values its Intellectual Property, the organization needs to keep its email within itself, and the Mirapoint Message Server 7700 delivers uncompromising, in-house reliability at a price that is typically less than half the cost of an exchange deployment.

Witous continued that the solution requires lower ongoing IT support, and pays for itself the minute an enterprise plugs it in.

Apart from it, the Message Server 7700 can also be deployed as a comprehensive solution by the service providers who want to offer cloud-based email services. A single M7700 is able to serve 10,000 enterprise-class users, and features a 2U rackmount space that can hold gigabyte mailboxes, which significantly cuts down the amount of rackspace, power, and cooling by three to five times when compared to traditional email solutions.

The new messaging server offered by Mirapoint leverages its reliable and secure MOS 4.2, which assures the IT staff of the customers that they can bank upon the solution for serving mail and calendars that are free from viruses and spam. Deploying dual six-core Intel (News - Alert) Xeon processors and Mirapoint's enhanced MOS operating system, the new Message Server 7700 is a highly scalable email server that provides feature-rich email, group calendaring, address book functionality, and integrated policy management in a convenient appliance form factor.

When integrated with Remote Site Replication, the Message Server 7700 by Mirapoint enables the companies to maintain geographic-mirroring architecture, offering a fully redundant failover site ready to take over at a moment's notice if a disaster occurs.

According to Jon Blaskovich, director of technology for Ryan Partnership, the company bought the 7-series Message Server on the first day it was available and hasn't looked back since. Blaskovich noted that the solution has saved the company’s budget both on the IT and support sides.

Apart from the Mirapoint Message Server 7700 that supports the messaging requirements of medium to large enterprises; the company offers two other Message Server appliances named M7000 and M700 servers, which are suitable to fulfill the needs of small and mid-sized enterprise email deployments.

In August 2010, Mirapoint Software announced the introduction of the RazorGate 7000 email security gateway appliance, which will combine a new security software release with the latest hardware.
