AltiGen Intros MAX Service Pack for VoIP Unified Communications Platform

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

AltiGen Communications reportedly has launched Service Pack 1 for its “MAX Communications Server 6.0” VoIP unified communications platform.

The new release offers features such as new server redundancy options with “hot standby support” for mission critical environments. It also offers 802.1q support for VLANs for increased Quality of Service and has new single T1/PRI/E1access board for the MAX1000 and MAX1000R servers. In addition, the product includes enhanced Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 support.

Jimmin Yao, vice president of product management for AltiGen (News - Alert), said he believes the new product will allow his company to provide customers with value-add feature enhancements during the product’s life cycle without investing in traditional “forklift” upgrades commonly required of older, legacy phone systems.

By leveraging AltiGen’s software based softswitch architecture, IT departments can deploy the features they need as soon as they become available. The product also increases the AltiGen product’s return on investment and reduces their total cost of ownership.

Here’s how AlitGen diagrams its platform’s integration with Microsoft (News - Alert):

AltiGen President Jeremiah Fleming, as the company moves further upstream in the market, its ability to add and improve upon core capabilities is critical to meeting the customer demands. Fleming said he sees his company as well-positioned to compete and sell into larger opportunities thanks to the increased scalability available from a software based softswitch and the new redundancy and QoS features available in MAXCS Service Pack 1.

AltiGen’s MAX Communications Server 6.0 VoIP unified communications platform is designed for businesses with support for up to 5,000 users. The platform offers Native Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 integration for a complete unified messaging solution and new, software-based distributed softswitch architecture with support for 1,000 users on a single server among other.

AltiGen Communications made news earlier this year when Project InVision International reported that it achieved increased productivity through enhanced mobility and multisite capabilities available with AltiGen unified communications phone systems.
