Apptix, a provider of hosted unified communication services including Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange email, Microsoft SharePoint, and VoIP for businesses worldwide, recently announced the availability of Microsoft Outlook 2010 for Apptix hosted Exchange e-mail users.
James Bond, vice president of Product and Software Development for Apptix (News - Alert) explained that since Microsoft Exchange 2010 had received the bulk of the media buzz, the benefits that customers had been looking forward to are actually provided by the Outlook 2010 client.
In addition, Bond said by upgrading now, Apptix customers could experience improvements ranging from easier scheduling and conversation management to new social network-like tools and enhanced search functionality.
Microsoft Outlook 2010 features include:
· The ability to manage multiple email accounts, whether Exchange, IMAP, or POP from a single Outlook profile
· Condensing extensive email conversations into a single thread, similar to an Internet message board or social network
· Better scheduling and calendar management tools
· Enhanced search functionality for sifting through large volumes of e-mail
· Social network functionality, allowing users to enlist Outlook 2010 as a their social and business network “hub”
Officials with Apptix said they are working with Microsoft and partners to beta test the hosted version of Exchange 2010 in its lab prior to implementation. In addition, the company’s commitment to ensuring that all the integrated SharePoint, Office Communications Server, VoIP, encrypted e-mail, compliant archiving, and other add-on features are fully tested and enterprise ready within the multi-tenant version of Exchange 2010 prior to offering it to customers.
