Accellion and Government Technology Solutions Enter into Reseller Agreement

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

The government agencies have reveled in the era of email revolution and have started communicating through emails a great deal than before. Although this method is highly efficient, these agencies often have to comply with various laws and requirements before sending their communications through emails.

To help the agencies in this regard, Accellion has entered into a reseller partnership with Government Technology Solutions (News - Alert) to provide government agencies with a secure, efficient way to share e-mail attachments.

Often, while sharing digital files through email, e-mail performance gets affected or e-mail storage requirements go up. With Accellion Managed File Transfer, government agencies and enterprises quickly and securely share digital files up to 20 GB without impacting any of these functions. The solution features authentication check points that validate recipients so confidential information is not overexposed.

“Increased data breaches and extended compliance regulations like HIPAA make it impossible to ignore security vulnerabilities,” said Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion. “Partnering with Government Technology Solutions makes it easier for government agencies to protect themselves against the dangers.”

“We have seen more attacks in the first three months of 2010 than we did in all of 2009.” said Robert Deitz, CEO, Government Technology Solutions.

The Accellion solution facilitates definition and enforcement of corporate content-based policy decisions as it can be easily integrated with data leakage prevention solutions. Accellion achieved Federal Information Processing Standards, or “FIPS,” 140-2 Level 2 certification from the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology, or “NIST.” The solution provides the facility to check audit trail tracks and it reports who receives a file and when.

Recently, the company announced that Hospitals and health networks are turning to Accellion to secure Personal Health Information shared electronically and ensure HIPAA compliance. Accellion officials claimed that managed file transfer offers unmatched encryption, tracking and reporting capabilities necessary to maintain compliance. Accellion managed file transfer solution allows healthcare organizations to securely send and receive files and folders up to 20GB in size.
