Funambol's 'Push' E-mail Elevates BlueTie's Standing

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

Funambol, a premier provider of open source mobile cloud sync and push e-mail for billions of devices, announced that BlueTie, a provider of hosted e-mail and Software-as-a-Service, has selected its push e-mail and mobile cloud sync solution.

Blue Tie’s hosted e-mail and collaboration platform, which is used to store and share files, photos, calendars, contacts, and e-mail via the cloud, supports millions of users and a large number of enterprises.

With the addition of Funambol’s (News - Alert) push e-mail and PIM sync capabilities, BlueTie customers can now access their data and e-mail through their BlackBerry, iPhone, and Windows mobile devices. The solution also syncs with Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook.

Chris Alvaro, Senior PMM, Blue Tie, said that after evaluating a number of solutions, Funambol had been chosen because its platform provided great value and flexibility, which enabled Blue Tie to optimize service for its customers. Alvaro further added that clients expectations also rose with the rapid advance of technology.

On adopting Funambol’s technology, BlueTie (News - Alert) is now in a position to offer real time push e-mail. This is a key feature, as users want immediate access to their mail. Blue Tie is in a vantage position as most competing solutions do not offer push e-mail.

“It’s no secret that the future is mobile, and companies that do not adapt will be left behind,”  Fabrizio Capobianco (News - Alert), CEO, Funambol, said

In addition, by ‘adapting and adopting’, BlueTie had gained a significant edge and increased its value to customers by adding push email and mobile cloud sync capabilities. In such a scenario, Capobianco said that companies that are not already pursuing mobile cloud services will soon be forced to follow suit.

BlueTie finalized the partnership with Funambol in late 2009, and BlueTie clients were able to utilize the new mobile capabilities immediately. BlueTie’s Software-as-a-service offerings eliminate the need for clients to purchase their own expensive server equipment.

A few months ago, BlueTie announced a strategic partnership to offer its comprehensive cloud-based e-mail and collaboration suite as part of LegalZoom.com’s Business Resource Network
