Sendmail Completes 250 Messaging Architecture Reviews

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

Sendmail, Inc, a provider of appliance-based products, applications and services that help enterprises and government agencies modernize their messaging infrastructures, has reportedly completed more than 250 Messaging Architecture Reviews with Global 1000 companies.

The reviews were conducted on the companies that were interested in finding security vulnerabilities and discovering infrastructure cost savings by modernizing their e-mail messaging infrastructures.

The Sendmail Messaging Architecture Review Program is a comprehensive review that evaluates a company’s existing messaging infrastructure. The reviews are conducted in conjunction with interviews with representatives of all department stakeholders from IT, Messaging, Security, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Finance and other functions that rely upon e-mail for mission-critical communications with employees, customers and partners. Results of each study are provided in a written report and executive presentation which contains short and long-term recommendations on how to optimize an enterprise’s messaging architecture.

The program has helped almost 85 percent of enterprises to discover security vulnerabilities and scalability flaws that threaten e-mail trust and reliability within their organizations. More than 93 percent of these enterprises have discovered that significant cost savings can be obtained from reallocation of existing budgets to combat threats by modernizing the way the messaging infrastructure manages e-mail.

The recommendations made from Messaging Architecture Reviews with Sendmail have resulted in customers modernizing their e-mail infrastructures. The reviews are conducted by Sendmail’s “Messaging Architects (News - Alert).” The Sendmail Architecture Reviews let IT leaders gain insight into their own infrastructures.

According to Glen D. Vondrick, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Sendmail, while conducting a Messaging Architecture Review with Messaging Architects, customers found they had many ‘point products’ deployed that were affecting their ability to effectively manage growing e-mail volumes. Vondrick said that a Messaging Architecture Review with Sendmail can help executives gain insight into their real costs and help organizations discover vulnerabilities, which can then be remedied by using existing budgets to modernize the infrastructure and increase reliability and trust in e-mail.

A number of cost-conscious enterprises are taking advantage of Sendmail’s Messaging Architecture Reviews to assess various messaging trends in Cloud Computing, Virtualization of the Data Center, and determining how to separate core infrastructure functions from lower value applications. In fact, after having conducted previous rounds of IT cost-cutting measures, one Fortune 500 multi-national enterprise moved to a hybrid architecture using a virtualized message processing platform for control of critical messages while moving low-value filtering applications to cloud computing. The enterprise was identified how to save more than $3 million in current year operating expenses.
