Since 2013, students have had the opportunity to compete against their
peers from across the country in DeVry's annual Senior Project Showdown.
Each student team submitted a 60-90-second video and description of
their project. The top projects were selected by a panel comprised of
Microsoft (News - Alert), Cisco, Adobe and Hewlett-Packard representatives, as well as
DeVry University faculty and staff, based on their innovation,
real-world problem solving and creativity. Public voting on DeVry
University's Facebook (News - Alert)® page narrowed the top 10 down to three

are difficult to gain exposure on and compete with a large amount and
type of content. This targeted platform makes it easier to be
discovered." - Microsoft representative
Second Place - H-Bike: a hybrid
bicycle that combines human and electric power. The bicyclist can
pedal-power the battery during the ride, or charge the H-Bike battery

"Both the product and the 'commercial' are top notch. Great products
don't go anywhere if they are not marketed well, and well-marketed but
poorly made products are also doomed. This project has it all,
excellent benefit statements for both the individual and the
environment." - Adobe (News - Alert) representative
Third Place - Pavlov's Chair: a
product that connects to chairs and emits an audible tone when the chair
is tipping. The product is designed to promote student safety by
preventing injuries in children and adolescents.
Students: Time Barsch and Cassandra Moore
Campus: Columbus, Ohio

"I love that they're addressing a real problem in schools today,
something very common but critically important in terms of student
safety. I wish I had this when my son was growing up!" - Cisco (News - Alert)
The top student teams received cash awards ranging from $500-$2,500.
First-place team members also received a one-year Adobe®
Creative Cloud Membership.
"Our students look forward to showcasing their knowledge in their field
of study," said Donna M. Loraine, Ph.D., chief academic officer/provost
of DeVry University. "We congratulate the national finalists in our
Showdown, as well as each and every student who works diligently and
ardently to demonstrate classroom and practical education in a
real-world scenario. We prepare our students for what is next in their
career journey and the senior or capstone project is their final step."
