WebFilings, GlobalVetLINK win Iowa tech industry awards [Ames Tribune, Iowa :: ]
(Ames Tribune (IA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 19--The software company WebFilings won Software Company of the Year for a fourth time at this year's Prometheus Awards in Des Moines. The Ames-based company also won Technology Company of the Year for the third straight year.
The Prometheus Awards are presented by the Technology Association of Iowa, a membership-based, nonprofit organization that's involved in Iowa's technology industry, and LWBJ Financial, a financial services firm based in Des Moines. The awards celebrate the innovation in Iowa's high-tech industry and the people involved.
The Ames-based GlobalVetLINK, which builds web-based products for veterinarians, animal owners and livestock producers, won Technology Company of the Year for a small to medium sized business.
Lead by CEO Clifford Smith, GlobalVetLINK's digital certificates were used to transport more than 240 million animals within the United States in 2013.
GlobalVetLINK was founded in 2001.
WebFilings, founded in 2008, received $78.2 million in state aid in 2013 to expand to a new building and add 700 employees.
WebFilings is based in Ames and Mountain View, Calif., with offices in other U.S. cities as well as Canada, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The current CEO is Matthew Rizai.
WebFilings currently serves more than 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies.
