Sochi 2014: One Year Out, Avaya's Communications Systems Going for the Gold
MOSCOW, Feb 11, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
-- Avaya communications equipment to ensure secure and seamless
connectivity -- anywhere, anytime, with any device -- for all test
events leading to and during the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games
-- Avaya Learning Services training Russian communications workers,
facilitating technology knowledge transfer
With the Sochi 2014 Winter Games one year away, Avaya's network and
communications equipment is already being used at key milestone
athletic events to ensure a next-generation communications experience
-- secure, reliable communications anytime, anywhere, and on any
device. The Avaya network has been completed and is now in full test
mode. As part of its first test in December, the Avaya system was
used to manage the world figure skating finals held onsite at the Ice
Palace "Iceberg" venue where the Games will be staged in 2014.
At Sochi 2014, Avaya's networking and communications equipment will
unite sporting venues, media centers and Olympic villages. Avaya
Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (Avaya VENA) is the platform
of choice for communications, logistics, registration and
accreditation of athletes and media, and public safety.
Milestone Events
Secure and reliable network structure is important
to the success of the Games. Therefore, multiple "Test Events" are
being held before the start of the Sochi Winter Games. These live
qualifier events for each sport are held at the competition venues
and offer a real-world scenario for Avaya's communications and
networking systems to prove their resilience. This testing, done in
conjunction with other project partners, will ensure the critical
technical infrastructure of all aspects of the Games is robust.
Avaya Learning Services: Training Russian Communications Workers
In
preparation for and during the execution of the Sochi Olympic Winter
Games, Avaya will also provide communications and systems training
for local Russian employees. This training, designed to provide
ongoing skills development on the latest communications technologies,
will ensure that after the Games, Russia will have an even stronger
set of skilled telecommunications workers.
